Conservation

Through my work with tigers and other animals I strive to capture a moment, a feeling that I have experienced either in the wild or seen in captivity. My drawings do not act as portraits but representations of a species, the essence or spirit of that particular animal. Tigers are my predominant passion and provide a constant source of inspiration along with the other animals that occupy their world. Nothing prepares you for seeing a tiger in the wild. In the presence of a tiger you are struck by their immense beauty and power and filled with the sense of your own humble place in nature.

From early childhood I have been fascinated by tigers but as the threat of extinction looms the need to draw them and other animals becomes all too important. There may come a day when artwork, photography, films and books are all that remains of many of the worlds great species.

There are approximately 1,706 wild tigers left in the world. The main threats to their surival are habitiat loss, poaching of them and their prey. There are organisations and individuals working hard to fight these problems both in the field and behind the scenes. Should you wish to help, or find out more information, please proceed to my links page where you will find contact details of two organisations that I feel are doing amazing conservation work.
