The Tiger in Rose
There is more than a trace of the tiger in Rose and all her work is deeply dedicated to the protection of her awesome, magnificent and terribly threatened subject.
Rose thinks and breathes tigers, and has made tremendous efforts to understand them in depth with powerful studies of their skeletons made behind the scenes in the Natural History Museum and she has studied the living creatures in the jungle in India with Valmik Thapar.
Her drawings of the great cats explore their structure and nature, both their ferocity and their gentle aspects; they roar, snarl savagely, and purr contentedly. Her approach is realistic and unsentimental, her commitment total.
